JYSK memories – parasport special: Prolonging of long-lasting sponsorship

33 years ago
As of June 1989, JYSK stepped in as main sponsor of Parasport Denmark, and we have been main sponsor ever since. This makes it one of the longest lasting sports sponsorships in Denmark, and JYSK are proud to have been supporting the athletes to achieve great results through the years.
It all began in 1988, when Danish Para athletes were very successful at the Paralympics in Seoul, South Korea. However, the athletes were in severe lack of funding for the preparation towards the next Paralympic event.
Since 1989, the sponsorship has been extended to other countries, as JYSK has expanded and opened new stores in other parts of the world.
20 years ago
In 2002, JYSK also became the main sponsor of Parasport in Norway, followed by Romania in 2017 and Finland in 2019.
JYSK also sponsors Parasport in Sweden, Czech Republic and Slovakia, while JYSK Franchise sponsors organisations in Canada, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
2022
JYSK announces the prolonging of the sponsorship with Parasport Denmark that has lasted since 1989. The new sponsorship will last until the end of 2024 and the sponsorship is more than doubled compared to the previous agreement.
Today, 4 March 2022 the winter Paralympics in Beijing also kicks off and this will be the 17th Paralympics with JYSK as main sponsor of Danish Para athletes.

Therefore, we are also very happy to increase and prolong the sponsorship,” says Communications & CSR Director in JYSK, Rune Jungberg Pedersen.
